Fifty years since smoking and health: progress, lessons and priorities for a smoke-free UK

£0.00 £0.00

Edited by Professor John Britton

This report includes 15 papers presented by leading international experts at a Royal College of Physicians (RCP) conference, held in March 2012 in collaboration with the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies, to commemorate 50 years since the publication of the landmark report Smoking and health in 1962.

Edited by Professor John Britton, chair of the RCP's Tobacco Advisory Group, professor of epidemiology and director of the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies, University of Nottingham, the report discusses previous achievements in tobacco control and the future of smoking in Britain; how to prevent smoking; how to help smokers who want to quit, and protect others from smoke and smoking; and policies and practice of the tobacco industry.

The report can be downloaded as a pdf.

The 1962 RCP report Smoking and health, which helped change the perception of smoking and raised awareness of smoking-related diseases, is also available for the first time to download as a pdf..
